Soakaway Cleaning
When a soakaway system becomes blocked by rainwater debris or foul water there is the potential of flooding. There will be a variety of reasons why a blockage has occurred, and it is vital to investigate and release/remove the blockage to allow the system to resume normal operation.
Rainwater is rarely pure water by the time it reaches a soakaway, dust, moss, dead leaves and other debris from roofs and gutters are all washed into the system and will accumulate over time.
Our engineers will survey and determine the most suitable course of action. In most circumstances the most effective method will be to use our High-Pressure Jetting to remove the blockage, backwash the system and remove the residue waste for disposal, leaving the system free of obstruction and completely cleaned.
There are a number of factors which can negatively affect your soakaway system if not tended to, including:
- Debris
- Poor absorption
- Roots growing into the system
- Drain blockages
- Poor maintenance
Frequently Asked Questions
Soakaways are designed to manage surface water runoff. It’s typically installed in areas where rainwater collects, such as driveways, patios, gardens and the out flow from Septic Tanks and Treatment plants. The purpose of a soakaway is to allow water to infiltrate the ground gradually, preventing flooding and soil erosion.
Routine removal and cleaning of silt traps, pivotal for clear water infiltration paths.
Ensure guttering and downpipes are cleaned and maintained.
