An oil interceptor is a vital yet relatively simple piece of equipment that traps water running off from sites where oil is present. Within the chambers the oil pollutants are separated from the water allowing the water element to re-enter the drainage system. Periodically the interceptor is serviced so that the pollutants can be disposed of safely.
Interceptors are most commonly used in car parks, industrial areas, and roadways where high volume of vehicle movement exists.
By definition, a gully (in the context of a drainage system) is a drainage fitting with an open top, a definite base and an outlet to one or more sides. Depending on the type of gully, they can be used to connect wastewater outlets or stormwater/rainwater outlets to suitable drains. They can also be used to drain surface water from areas susceptible to flooding. The gully is designed so it may be clean to minimise the amount of debris entering the drainage system.
